Madrid, Spain — In coordination with the Film Development Council of the Philippines, the Philippine Embassy in Madrid, led by Ambassador to Spain Philippe J. Lhuillier, held the closing ceremony of the three-week long Cine Festival de Filipinas at Cine Paz back on June 30.

The Cine Festival, which celebrates Filipino culture and artistry, presented Bamboo Flowers (2013), Kanana Kanu (2012), Ang Babae sa Likod ng Mambabatok (2012), Ano ang Kulay ng Nakalimutang Pangarap (2013), Mamang (2018), Sonata (2013) and Tyanak (2014).

The films, directed by renowned Filipino directors such as Peque Gallaga, Maryo J. Delos Reyes, Jose Javier Reyes, among others, were pooled for the festival for their portrayal of Filipino values and culture, as well as for featuring rural Philippine landscapes.

The selection this year was also intended to reconnect the Filipino community with their roots and to allow them to introduce their culture to their Spanish friends and family members.
